Nano-based drug delivery systems: recent developments and preclinical studies for biomedical applications
Co-organized with ISS
Chairs: Marisa COLONE & Maria CONDELLO, ISS

Nanomedicine and nano delivery system research represent rapidly developing fields where materials in the nanoscale range are employed as tools to deliver therapeutic or diagnostic agents to specific sites in a controlled manner. Both in vitro cell culture models and different in vivo systems are increasingly employed to assess the ability of nano-based delivery systems to transport and selectively release drugs inside the cell/tissue target. A number of nanocarriers have allowed achieving an increased drug therapeutic efficacy in preclinical studies and some of them also in clinical trials.

The symposium focuses on recent advances in the field of nano-based system design for drug delivery and preclinical testing to assess their suitability in biomedical field applications, involving both diagnostics and therapeutics.
