The progressive decarbonization of economy requires the research and development of advanced technologies for the safe and efficient carbon capture and storage technologies (CCS). CCS is a well-known area of research to reduce CO2 emission and remove carbon from the air. A technology option which captures CO2 is based on ammine, which is then stored in depleted oil wells in order to enhance the recovery of oil and methane. In the era of circular economy, this is not sufficient. To be effective, the CCUS processes themselves have to shift from a linear paradigm to a circular one. In circular-CCUS processes, the materials used for capturing the CO2, should be managed in a safer and sustainable way. This panel show the ultimate frontiers in sustainable, circular and efficient carbon capture technologies.
